Prodigem Offers Paid BitTorrent Service

April 6th, 2005 | by Mike G |

Prodigem has just launched a new part of its service that creates a new marketplace for independent media producers. Content owners upload their works to Prodigem, name a selling price and Prodigem collects the revenue while controlling access. They take out 10% + the Paypal fees and send checks out once a month.

…and all without DRM of any kind. It should be an interesting experiment, but charging for torrents… I’m not too sure about that. Also, without DRM, once one person gets a copy of the work, how will that effect their business model once it makes it’s way to the free torrentsphere?
